Titanfall For Xbox One - Mechs, Parkour And More

Following the departure of Jason West and Vince Zampella from Infinity Ward following the Call of Duty 4 profit sharing fiasco where Activision attempted to fire the heads of the studio to avoid paying them royalties for the project, the duo, along with a majority of senior staff (38 out of 46) left to form Respawn Entertainment.

Following 3 years of relative silence, their newest endeavor was announced today at the Xbox conference, featuring a game rather similar in feel to the Call Of Duty franchise, albeit with a refreshing scifi theme to go with it. Featuring agile pilots who commandeer heavily armored Titan mechs, the game seems to mix elements of Mirror's Edge with more traditional FPS based mechanics, along with a dash of Hawken. As fast paced and hectic as it is though, the title's graphics arent exactly awe inspiring, although it looks like the game will be pretty damn fun. On an interesting note related to graphics, a source of ours speculated that the title was originally intended for the 360, but is currently being ported to Microsoft's next gen console with a spring 2014 release date.

Nintendo Announces WiiU

Nintendo just announced their newest system, the WiiU..which at first just seemed like a glorified controller with an LCD display built in. I'm not quite sure what to think of it just yet...Some notes in bullet form:

-Its a wireless, handheld system with two thumbsticks and a stylus. Embedded microphone and a gyroscope as well.
-Streaming from hardware to the WiiU peripheral.
-Graphics that will be on par with Xbox and PS3, specs were not announced. Among some titles, Darksiders 2, Dirt, Ghost Recon, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Tekken, which are already multiplatform.
-The same slew of first party titles, which failed to wow. Nothing new from Nintendo other than more sequels to the same franchises. However, the mention of Smash Brothers on the WiiU and 3ds with cross connectivity was very interesting.

My main concern is the lack of exclusives for the system. As of now we have a system that will compete on par with the current next gen systems. We're going to see if we can get our hands on footage of the system later today. Due to the very dry nature of Nintendo's press conference, I'll give it a C.
