The International Banana Museum Raises Some Eyebrows

From the post apocalyptic shores of California's once beautiful Salton Sea, a bizarre wasteland which we've covered a few times now comes this mini documentary about a fascinating character called Fred 'Banana Mon' Garbutt. Taking his love for the yellow fruit to the point of obsession, this mini slice of life documentary by Cool Hunting takes a look at the eccentric fellow and his insane collection of everything banana related. It never hurts to see people so enthusiastic about things they truly love, and this video does a wonderful job conveying that.

Its true, Grandparents sometimes have some great wisdom to bestow thanks to them having a few decades on you. However, I don't usually find myself asking them for advice about Twitter etiquette or which games to stay away from. This fun little series by Chacho Puebla features his grandma carrying little tidbits of wisdom that she would never bestow, but are nonetheless relevant to this generation.

Turns out that he's also spent quite a bit of time collecting and rescuing some truly one of a kind sweaters from the 70's and 80's, with a very common theme. It's amazing what happens when Mexican Tribal music is translated into the world of fashion! The phenomena of the Mexican pointy boots has to be seen to be believed. Just be wary, some mildly NWS content towards the end of this mini documentary.

At first glance it seemed this was a mockumentary, but since it was broadcast byVBSTV: a network started by Vice Magazine, it's credibility holds up. VBSTV has correspondents all over the world, showcasing the most interesting international subcultures, sports, music, and events.

This series was created seperately by photographer James Reynolds and the Brooklyn based Chef/Artist
Julia Ziegler Haynes respectively (Her website is currently down).  At different points in time they decided to recreate the last meals of various death row inmates from around the nation and photograph them as a series. Its a tad on the morbid side, but its really curious to see how inmates handled this last request....A chance to eat anything they wanted, a last chance to enjoy something they probably hadn't had in years.

As various sports seasons are ramping up across the US, we decided to take a look at some of the more interesting offerings from stadiums across the country.  We scoured major league, little league, and minor league stadiums for people trying to leave a mark with both their teams and their food.  So without further ado:

Baltimore Orioles Birdland Dog:  As over the top as it gets, this hotdog is covered with charcoal grilled beef,  potato hash, pepperoni, onion rings and tomato relish.  This Hotdog is about 3 courses in one.

The Comic Sans Curse

Comic Sans has become the pariah font of any designer over the last few years.  And to most people it represents all things bad, out of touch and stale.

Back when I was a kid doing school projects, comic sans was a miracle in the scarce Windows 95 font set.  It was an elixir for boring school projects that I could give a crap less about, adding that touch of fun to a seas of drab text.  What happened?
