Young Galaxy - "Sleepwalk With Me"

The latest music video from the Canadian indie/synth pop outfit Young Galaxy takes a page from actual history, with the direction taking inspiration from Letter to a GI, a 1953 book which tells the tale of a relationship between two GI's during World War II. This abstracted retelling is presented with a variety of vignettes always framed by the silhouette of the sleeping soldier, representing the dream state in which these recollections are coming from. The track is taken from the album 'Ultramarine,' which is distributed by Paper Bag Records.

The Art Of Hacne - Out Of Control

(Via)
Hacne is a Kyoto based illustrator, who captivated us with her surreal compositions starring distant, disconnected looking subjects trapped in strange, desaturated worlds. Based off some of the titles and information regarding the pieces, her ongoing theme revolves around feeling disconnected or detached from reality/society, which we've noticed to be a somewhat popular theme with Japanese illustrators (Check out our recent feature with the artist called Thine).

The contrast of soft figures in these highly geometric, nearly abstracted settings definitely pushes the feeling of disconnect, as well as the fact that the protagonists are typically trapped, drowning, falling or in perilously high settings sells the fact that the artist doesn't feel in control. Check out more of Hacne's illustrations after the break.

Begun - "San Francisco"

Filmmaker Borja V. Conde's explanation of the inspiration for this warped, kaleidoscopic music video was truly fascinating, originating from an experience with a condition known as paroxysmal positional vertigo: A more advanced version of vertigo resulting in a constant spinning sensation and sudden visual distortion of nearby moving objects.

The track was created by Gunsal H. Moreno, a Barcelona based producer deeply grounded in the wonderful world of chillwave. Enjoy the mellowness, mild NSFW for a little chest nudity.

Jai Paul - Jasmine

UK Singer/songwriter Jai Paul's latest track taps into the realm of dark dreams, with visuals of disembodied teeth, dark figures and occult symbolism highlighting the wonderfully distorted and understated, mellow sound. Considering that this is Jai Paul's second track since 2007's BTSU, I'm really left hoping that he'll be releasing new tracks a little more regularly.
