The Beautiful Illustrations Of Sato

Valkyrie. (Via)

If you're a fan of Alphonse Mucha's amazing, and highly graphic illustrations you'll find the propable source of Sato's inspiration for these tarot card-esque pieces. Created in order to illustrate a series of characters from a manga he's working on, I absolutely loved the sheer variety of styles at play here, from woodcut to painterly. If you pay attention to the visual language as well, the Valkyrie above has an incredibly aggressive looking graphic style to probably match her demeanor compared to the softer , more watercolor based look of his nature aligned creature below.

We've featured Sato before for his Torigun: Birds of War series, so I'd highly recommend checking that out as well. More pieces from this wonderful set after the break!
