The Somali Pirate Movie

A pretty incredible trailer for an upcoming film by Cutter Hodierne aptly named, "Fishing Without Nets," showcasing the whole Somali pirate controversy from their perspective. I'm incredibly interested in this because I know the issue is simply not as black and white as people make it to be, and has more to do with the social/economic climate in the downtrodden region. The striking shots and music in this trailer really leave an impression.

One interesting thing to note is that there have been multiple articles talking about the reasons that caused the massive upsurge in piracy, and some of the most interesting ones discussed toxic waste dumping in the waters, illegal fishing from foreign companies, and the destruction of fishermen's livelihoods. I look forward to seeing which angle Cutter gets in this documentary.
