This amazing disk contains a new high-definition digital restoration of the film (with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition) and high-definition digital restoration of Godzilla: King of the Monsters!, Terry Morse’s 1956 reworking of the original, starring Raymond Burr. On top of this is a mountain of extras including commentaries from David Kalat (A Critical History and Filmography of Toho’s Godzilla Series), brand new interviews, featurettes and even a audio essay. The set is finished off with a booklet featuring an essay by critic J. Hoberman.
Whilst the $30 price tag will put a number of audiences off, January 24th, 2012 is the date set for all giant monster geeks to watch one of the greatest cult movies ever made with a beautiful cover of artwork. Just....don't mention the American remake. Fish?
