From what I can tell, Panos Cosmatos is a brand new director that just dropped out of nowhere and premiered this movie at the Tribeca Film Festival a few months back. The trailer brings back memories of 2001: A Space Odyssey, THX 1138 and visual styles that Tarsem and Alejandro Jodorowsky pioneered over the years...And to me that's a winning combination. That and the awesome analog synth soundtrack, which really takes me back to the eighties. Even if the movie is completely devoid of plot or bordering on the abstract, I'm sure there's more than enough audio visual candy to make up for that.
Despite the trailer being a few months old, it looks like the movie has just started to premiere on a limited release basis outside the festival circuit. Check out the website for screening details, and the official movie poster after the break.
