McFly's Closet: What Is Nike Up To?

This teaser dropped sometime last night, on a pretty damn conspicuous channel called DocEmmettBrown88 (Get it?). The video features row after row of those amazing Nike Air 2015 kicks that Marty McFly wore in Back To The Future II, with those signature self strapping shoes..And a simple quote: "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that looks like shelves and shelves of 2011 Nike Mag shoes."

Well what is Nike up to? Are they gauging interest for a new Back To The Future, or a related product line to prey on our wallets? Did that strangely viral Argentine video we covered 2 weeks ago, featuring the DeLorean warping into 2011 tie into this? Well we dug up some interesting tidbits for you guys....Check it out after the break!

Well it turns out that Nike filed a patent back in late 2009 for an 'Article Of Footwear with Lighting System and Automatic Fastening System.' Check out the patent below...Its a dead ringer, Nike intends to make the shoes a reality..Possibly sometime this year.

We do our homework at AwesomeRobo.

The patent was accompanied with a secondary image, showcasing the actual fastening tech. We're kind of curious as to how the sneakers will be powered or charged.

I kind of can't believe that we're finally getting these. This diagram illustrates the correlation between pressing the button and the auto fastening mechanism.

Pretty damn exciting, huh? Another thing that's noteworthy is that select fashion blogs were invited to a Nike event in LA prior to this video being posted last night. They unveiled a product, "That could change the course of time."

Higsnobiety.com got their hands on one of these packages..Turns out that they contained:

The Doc's visor from Back To The Future 2...Badass!

Nike is still teasing that the big announcement still hasn't been made. Could it be that we're getting the Nike Mags? A new movie with a product tie in? An updated Bluray re-release for Back To The Future 2? We're dying to know, and will keep you guys posted.
