As I said yesterday, Queen is one of my favorite bands. Today would have been lead singer, Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday. So in honor of that, Google created one of their famous Google doodle's for the front page of the site, as a tribute to an artist, performer, and pioneer. Freddie Mercury, where ever you might be, happy 65th birthday. We miss you dearly, and thank you for the amazing times.
For everyone else? Enjoy the video, and after the jump a selection of my personal favorite Queen moments.
Don't tell me you headbang when the final breakdown happens. I remember the first time I heard this song. I just headbang-ed. It's genetics written into human DNA.
It's the truth, and a deep song that many have tried to imitate giving the ultimate message; you are beautiful, and don't forget it.
My dad watched this show. My granddad watched this show. Even to this day I can quote this film by heart, and it's hard not to enjoy ANY interpretation of this amazing sci-fi show.
Ever feel down? Listen to this song. It will bring you right up and remind you; you will always succeed even after being kicked down.
Highlander is one of my favourte films of all time. And how can you not like it? Amazing story, great writing, a soundtrack by Queen and Shawn Connery as an Italian with a Scottish accent, whilst a french man plays a Scottish man with a French accent. Films were simple back in the 80's, and that is why we love them.
One sick beat featuring two of the greatest musical talents of our generation, Queen and David Bowie, working together for charity.
We have all felt this way. Trapped, wanting to break free from the monotony of life and the tasks we lead. This song has helped me shape my life so many times, and I'm thankful for it.
You say Shaun of the Dead, I say EVERY single time I've got drunk at a club and freaked out with this song. Because I'm a cool drunk like that.
