Panasonic Cancels 'Jungle' Handheld
Hey, remember less than a year ago when Panasonic announced the "Jungle" Handheld, designed specifically for online gaming and MMOs? Yeah, I doubt you do. But it just got cancelled, and very few people will mourn. The thing looked clunky and ugly, and like a netbook/laptop designed for someone with working difficulties. No Offense.
"Panasonic decided to suspend further development due to changes in the market and in our own strategic direction," the company said in a statement. Makes sense, though I expect to see the 'Jungle Tablet' sometime soon. Tablets have suddenly become popular, which really attacked the need for a MMO Laptop type thingy, and the target market really would have been small anyway. Still, we could have been looking at the next N-Gage so perhaps Panasonic could have just saved themselves a massive loss, and a lot of humiliation.
RIP 'Jungle.' May you play the Battlestar Galactica MMO in Gaming Heaven.
