Love him or Hate him, Kevin Smith has managed to build an entire network based around his Podcasts. And I love them all, and it's a great example of a social media empire and how a simple idea (talking and joking with friends) can become a venture for just about anyone in this day and age.
Now, Kevin Smith is Planning on expanding his network to a full time internet channel. Does this sound good? Then you must listen to Smodcast. More information after the jump!
Here is what we know thus far:
-The Internet Radio Channel will be made available for streaming through the computer and through mobile apps. "If you’ve got a smart cell phone, you’ve got S.I.R. And terrestrially, if you’ve got a computer or laptop, you’ve got S.I.R."
-At first, there will be at least 4 hours of Live Content. These Shows will be available for Download After they Air.
-There will be User Submitted Content. After the first month, there will be a daily show entitled Pod U, which will consist of User Submitted Podcasts.
-Calls will be Taken Live
-All Weekly Shows Will Carry On As Normal.
-More information will be available through Tonight's Smodcast.
Now this is an interesting venture, and I can't wait to see the fruits of his labour, and if his model is really viable for future ventures for others.
