NISA Announces North American Danganronpa Release

Visual novel fans rejoice, after only a few weeks of the unofficial Danganronpa English patch being released, NISA has announced their plans to bring the first entry westward. Visual novels generally stuck with the Japanese market, but it seems an interesting shift has occurred to warrant bringing some of the more popular titles westward. With fantastic titles like 999, Hotel Dusk, and Phoenix Wright it seems that Western audiences are finally starting to see the appeal and I couldn't be more happy.

If you haven't jumped on the visual novel bandwagon, I suggest you give it a shot, you'll be pleasantly surprised with how engaging of a story they can tell. Danganronpa is set for to be released for the PlayStation Vita in 2014, it's a bit of a wait, but I think I can deal.

Anime Drop - Danganronpa

The popular Japanese visual novel series Danganronpa has been on a roll lately, with it's recent (unofficial) English translation patch and the newly released anime series. The series has gathered a massive cult following over the past few years with it's original PSP release and seeing it finally hit the television is exciting as all hell.

The story takes place in a high school where a group of students find themselves mysteriously trapped, similar to the stasis room in Gantz. The students are forced to attempt a perfect murder without being caught, if successful everyone else is killed and they are released with a diploma. I don't want to spoil too much, but the the game obviously isn't all that it seems. If you're willing to do a little bit of patching I would highly recommend checking it out.

While the series has launched and unofficial dubs have hit the internet, Funimation has confirmed a simulcast of the series so make sure to keep an eye out. If you're not able to play the game this is a series you definitely don't want to miss.
