I'll give this years World Cup two things: A)It's been unpredictable as hell so far, with just about every popular team getting knocked down a notch (Or knocked out altogether..England) and B) This cup has probably had the most animated promo work out of any World Cup to date.
Passion London & STK Films collaborated with Nike to create a slew of animated promos starring the allstars. And by Psyop animated the above feature called Galaxy11 in collaboration with Fifa and Samsung to create a scifi take on the sport. While Galaxy11 and The Last Game opted for more long form narratives, my favorites were actually the bite sized shorts which augmented memorable live action goals with some over the top CG.
Check out all the Nike branded shorts after the break, and let's see who comes out on top for this World Cup. I've still got my hopes up for Italy despite that Costa Rican upset.
